Thank God for a car seat and maybe some fluffy snow! But am I the only one wondering why the seat was not buckled in?

Wow! Thank goodness baby is ok!!! I have actually had an unbuckled seat in my car because I switched the seats around between cars or my husband did, don't even know who it was, did the top tether and got distracted and forgot about the bottom. We were coming home from a trip and completely didn't notice the next time we used the car until we were at our destination!!!! I thank God every day that nothing happened from that hairbrained mistake!!!

At that age I'd assume she was in a bucket. Could be they thought it clicked into the base, but if they've been putting it on top of a grocery cart the connectors could have been warped without them knowing

I have accidentally driven kids in an unsecured seat. I assumed dh had buckled it back in and he just set it on the seat for me to secure...

I'm so glad she's okay.

I'm also guilty of driving all day, one time, without DD's seat being buckled in. She had been somewhere with her grandma the day before and I just tossed her seat in the car after MIL dropped her off because it was past her bedtime and she was melting down. Low and behold, I forgot to install it the next morning.

Now if I toss a seat in and don't buckle it, I put it in upside down or laying on it's back, so it's super super obvious.

Wow! I'm betting Madison will hear that story a few times growing up. I'm so glad she's ok. What an endorsement for using a car seat.

Even thinking about that story kind of turns my stomach. I am just imagining one of my babies ejected from the car and it is too awful to contemplate.

Yeah, I had also wondered why she was ejected in the first place. I'm sure it was either a mistake or they had it installed incorrectly (I've seen many an infant seat with the seat belt just over the seat, including forward facing). But stories like this still make me distrust infant seats with bases somewhat.

Once when Bram was still in his infant seat, I had tossed a blanket over him unbuckled, something I rarely did because I didn't like even carrying him in it unbuckled. I don't remember what I was doing or where I was but by the time I got to the car, I apparently forgot he wasn't buckled underneath the blanket. Didn't realize it until we got home. -_-

I got somewhere once and as I pulled Madi's carseat out of the base the whole base came sliding towards me. The clip farthest away from me was unhooked. I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm guessing ODD unhooked it somehow while buckling her own belt. It scared the crap out of me!

I think we've all had that happen at some point. For us, it's usually a older sibling who has accidentally unbuckled them.

Ok, another question... did anyone watch the video? Did it not seem a little alarming (seizure-ish) the way her eyes were rolling toward the end? It freaked me out a little. Makes me wonder if they did a full work up or just went off appearances... surely they would have checked her over well, right?

I actually had the same thought but brushed it off as a "baby looking at lights" thing.
