It's pretty strong but also very light. My machine uses PLA, some can also handle ABS, and I'm not sure what the difference is but machines that can do ABS and PLA both were more expensive. I found a pattern for a working, adjustable wrench that I want to try out this weekend. My cousin owns an auto body shop and is pretty intrigued by the 3D printed brake calibers, brake wheel (might be using the wrong word), engine parts, etc. While I wouldn't trust a PLA printed part on my car, some machines are able to print metal, and you can also use the PLA print to test if something fits and then use that to make a mold/cast of the final part.
I believe a friend of mine, who was paralyzed at her bachelorette party, now has a 3D printed modification on her hair straightener that lets her use her wrist to open and close it instead of having her hand hold it closed. And I just saw an SLR lens adapter. Crazy.

The HP stuff!
What immediately came to mind for me (to make if I had one of those) were garden markers.

I just spent way too much time on Reddit reading all of her stuff. She's awesome. I'm also even more confused on how Reddit works.
