Default Issues with food textures?

DH's cousin has a little boy that she's having problem getting to eat. She says it seems to be a texture thing with them. He'll eat purees fine but not regular food. Does anyone have any suggestions? He's around 15 months and have a dairy allergy as well as gluten intolerance.

It's a waiting game. I had one like that and as old as I am I also still have aversion to some textures.

I'm a texture person too and there are some foods I just can not eat. Certain smells also cause an adversion to the point of gagging, like celery.

I love celery but for the life of me I cannot eat bananas on their own (ok on a pb sandwich) and sushi

I am another who has texture issues (as do a few of my kids)... I still won't eat most fruits. Strawberry seeds, grape skin, bananas, RAW onions, etc make me shudder! I still won't even peel my own oranges, which I rarely eat anyway. I outgrew some of them (like sour cream and even oysters) but the others, no.

Pureed, if they will eat it, and just focus on what they will eat. Possible screaming for other issues, if there are any other concerns. My non-neurotypical kid has a lot of sensory issues, too.

PB I am just learning to choke down. Crunchy is more tolerable.

Yes this is what I was going to suggest. I know Sensory Issues can often be observed through food textures at a young age. I'd suggest the eval.

My oldest especially can't do mushy things.
She doesn't like mashed/ baked potatoes. Anything creamed.

That said, if we ever lived together, I would never accuse you of stealing my PB! Ha ha!

PB with chocolate is okay and I make the most delicious Reese's peanut butter bar knock off. We'd be okay.
