Default If you're on Armour (or other NDT)

Did you see a change in your cycle when you switched? It seemed like my cycles were starting to become more predictable right before I switched from synthroid.
I read that switching can cause you to feel pretty crappy at first, and that it gets better once you're past the transitional phase, but I'm fairly certain the dose I'm on right now is too low. Today is CD 34.

I got pregnant the month after I started taking it and still haven't gotten my period back post partum. I'm interested in if there will be a difference though.

I'm wondering if I should go in this week and get my levels checked. AF is still a no-show, and I feel like I'm getting a migraine. Ugh

Well, could you be pregnant?

I am on NDT (not Armour) and I am still adjusting doses, as I switched brands. My ENT gave me a lab slip to recheck levels, but not until mid-Feb. I think I am close, but still not quite "there" yet.

My cycles lengthened the last couple of months, but they needed to... from 25 days to 27. However, I am also on herbs that are supposed to help with that, too. My actual period has shortened, too, which makes me very happy. I was doing 10-14 days and now it's more like 5-7 (which was unheard of for me).

All that being said, I've heard women who actually experience breakthrough bleeding on NDT, so yes, it is definitely known to affect the menstrual cycle. It's a hormone, after all. Some have had issues with acne, too, like I did on the last brand. I can handle a pre-period zit, but I'm too damned old to be breaking out again!

How are you regulating the dosage? Have you increased it yet, especially if you still feel low? Or is your doc doing that?

Definitely not pregnant. DH and I have barely seen each other at all this month. I still peed on a stick because its a rule LOL. Negative. Its something we hope will happen eventually, but we want to get my thyroid functioning better and both my antibodies and my weight down first.

I just started Armour (switched from synthroid) on the 1st so we haven't adjusted dosage yet. I made an appointment for the first week in Feb to get levels checked ( a little early because I know they're off). Wondering if I should try to get in this week, or if its too soon to increase.

They say to wait 6 weeks between adjustments, I could not stand it that long. So far, I am actually liking how I feel on this new med. Unfortunately, I've tended to plateauing on many medications in the past, so we will see.

If your doc is anything like mine, they will likely insist you wait it out. Unless you can convince them you are miserable, than maybe. I've learned in this process how arbitrary this whole process can be. I was not impressed with the endocrinologist I saw, either. After 5 hours in her office, I was no better off than when I started. She told me I was showing signs of insulin resistance... duh, I've had PCOS since puberty. Told me to maintain the does I was on (which *I* had determined to begin with) and f/u in 2 months... uh, ok, thanks!
