Turning anxiety
DD is tall. She is either 40 pounds or close to it. (I don't have a scale but she was 35 pounds a couple months ago and has gone up a clothing size since then.) She will be 2 years old on the 13th.
Her seat is "rear facing to 40 pounds."
It's time to turn her, isn't it?

Is her head less than one inch from the top? If not I would find a scale first to be sure.

i'd be surprised if she's gained 5 lbs in just a couple months.

Ethan was very tall and 37lbs when he turned 2. I can see it. Lucas is the peanut. Gosh Lucas is about to turn 4 and weighs about 36lbs. such different boys!!
Personally I would turn her when she's 2 if she's 40lbs.

My firstborn was a very big child, much like your daughter seems to be. By his 2nd birthday he was already 40lbs and 40in tall. I would turn her when she turns 2, unless you want to buy another convertible to accomodate her weight.

I'd weigh her on a reliable scale, fully clothed... Even if she's really close, it could take well over 6 months to gain 2-3lbs. She probably just had a Spring growth spurt and isn't going to grow much for a while.
Otherwise... you could either get a Radian or just turn her. A 2yo in a properly used, properly installed FF seat is not UNsafe.

She's going in for her 2 year appointment on Tuesday, so we'll get a weight then.
When it's time to turn her, we'll turn her. I know she isn't unsafe, it's just... my desire to keep her in a bubble until she turns 30, KWIM?

totally know what you mean. batman is so heavy and our car is small... getting him back there (RF) is a pain, though I guess it wouldn't be any easier to load him in FF. I'm hoping we make it to 3, but even that makes me nervous, kinda.

As a follow up, I was apparently totally confused about how big my child is.
She was 27 pounds at 20 months and this week she weighed in at 31. So she did gain 4 pounds in 4 months but she's not pushing the weight limit quite yet! Phew!
So she's 31 pounds and 35 3/4 inches a couple days after turning 2. Gonna be a tall one.
